Position: Youth Ministry Director

Most people make a lifelong faith commitment by the time they graduate High School thus the teen years are crucial for supporting Youth in their faith development.  We want to bless Youth with a faith foundation that will help them mature into adult Disciples of Jesus Christ.

Job Description:

King of Glory Lutheran Church (KOG), www.kogaz.org, is looking for a part-time Youth Ministry Director to oversee a discipleship ministry to youth in grades 7-12 and beyond that includes both Christian education, fun fellowship and service events.

  • Demonstrates appropriate judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality
  • Proven leadership skills utilizing a cooperative, collaborative team leadership style
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain healthy and motivating relationship with congregants, council members, volunteers, and the community at large
  • Understanding of issues related to child safety and security resulting in the implementation of associated activities and safeguards

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with youth that lead to spiritual growth through discipleship
  • Plan and implement year-round Youth Ministry program that may include:
    • Weekly Bible study
    • Confirmation Program
    • Fun fellowship events
    • Community service opportunities
    • Annual summer week-long and winter weekend Christian camp experiences, attend with them if possible
  • Responsible for YM budget and financial oversight within bounds set by supervisor
  • Recruit, train, and supervise all YM volunteers
  • Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor for supervision and to plan/coordinate events with church schedule

Hours: Average 20hrs/week. Set hours on Sundays 8:30 a.m. – noon, plus additional time as needed to fulfill job requirements at employee’s self-determination and agreement with supervisor.

Education & Experience:

  • High School graduate minimum, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Youth Ministry experience preferred

Compensation:

  • Salaried, negotiable based on experience, paid monthly
  • 10% retirement beginning after 90-day probationary period
  • 2 weeks paid vacation
