Habitat For Humanity
It is time for KOG to start building another Habitat for Humanity with the Lutherans building for Christ Coalition. the next home will be in Apache Junction (1705 W. Mockingbird) in the same neighborhood as the last home KOG helped to build. KOG will be helping provide a home for the Sonbanang family, a mother and her two children. this is a Thrivent sponsored build and as such, must be completed by the end of the year. Therefore, ground breaking is scheduled for August 23. KOG will need to provide at least 8-10 volunteers weekly (though more are welcome). A sign up sheet is in the information center. No construction experience is needed. There are jobs for all skill levels and great opportunities to learn from skilled crew leaders.
For those that would like to participate, but do not wish to do construction, there is an opportunity for groups or individuals to provide lunch. anyone wishing to provide lunch can visit www.cclphoenix.org click on Habitat for Humanity and sign up for a date to provide lunch for the 35 - 40 volunteers.
Donations for Habitat for Humanity qualify as a tax credit (not just a deduction) for donations to the working poor for up to $400 for a couple filing jointly and $200 for an individual. Therefore, your contributions cost you nothing, but give so much. Please make checks payable to King of Glory with a comment marking donations as Habitat for Humanity.
For information, contact Mike Wilkins (480) 539-1202 who chairs the KOG Habitat Builders...or leave your name/telephone/email at the Welcome Center to volunteer.
